Ingredients
- 1 small head green cabbage (1½–2 lbs), cored and thinly sliced
- 1 lb ground beef (80–90% lean)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for greasing)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch dish.
- Spread sliced cabbage evenly in the bottom of the dish.
- Mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Scatter seasoned beef over cabbage in small clumps.
- Whisk tomato sauce with beef broth and pour evenly over top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
- Remove foil, add cheese, and bake 10–15 minutes more.
- Optional: Broil 1–2 minutes for a golden top.
- Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
