My mom’s grandmother used to make these

Posted on March 14, 2025 By admin No Comments on My mom’s grandmother used to make these

This sweet bread is a delightful combination of soft, fluffy texture and a delicious cinnamon sugar topping. It’s perfect for a cozy breakfast or a sweet treat.

Ingredients:

For the Bread:

Ingredient Quantity

All-purpose flour 2 cups

Granulated sugar 1 cup

Baking powder 1 teaspoon

Baking soda 1 teaspoon

Salt ½ teaspoon

Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon

Unsalted butter (melted) ½ cup

Eggs 2 large

Whole milk (or buttermilk) 1 cup

Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

Ingredient Quantity

Unsalted butter (melted) 2 tablespoons

Granulated sugar ¼ cup

Ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon

Instructions:

Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.

Mix wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.

Combine wet and dry ingredients: Slowly pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, stirring just until combined.

Pour into loaf pan: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake: Place pan in preheated oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top is browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil.

Add cinnamon sugar topping: While bread is baking, mix cinnamon sugar topping in a small bowl. Once bread is out of the oven and still warm, brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture over the entire loaf.

Cool and serve: Allow bread to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
