♨️ Quick & Easy Microwave Sweet Potatoes
A fast, simple method for achieving perfectly cooked, tender sweet potatoes in minutes!
Ingredients
- 2 **Sweet Potatoes** (medium size recommended)
- **Salt** and **Pepper** to Taste
- **Olive Oil** (or oil of choice)
- **Butter** (for serving, optional)
Instructions
- 1. **Prep the Potatoes:** Wash the sweet potatoes well under running water and pat them completely dry with a paper towel.
- 2. **Vent:** Using the tines of a fork, **poke holes** all over the potatoes (about 8-10 times per potato). This allows steam to escape and prevents them from bursting in the microwave.
- 3. **Season:** Pour a small amount of olive oil over the potatoes and rub it in completely, covering the skin. Add salt and pepper liberally to the outside of the potatoes for flavor.
- 4. **Initial Cook:** Place the seasoned potatoes directly on the microwave turntable or on a microwave-safe plate. Cook for **5 minutes** on high power.
- 5. **Finish Cooking:** Continue to cook the potatoes for **one minute at a time** until they reach your desired level of doneness. They are ready when they feel soft when squeezed (careful, they will be hot!) or when a fork slides in easily.
- 6. **Serve:** Carefully slice the sweet potatoes open lengthwise. Fluff the inside flesh with a fork and garnish with butter or your favorite toppings before serving immediately.
