Slow Cooker Minister’s Delight

Slow Cooker Minister’s Delight is a classic, simple dessert that’s both comforting and delicious—similar to a cherry dump cake. It’s called “Minister’s Delight” because it’s easy enough to make on a busy Sunday and tasty enough to impress the preacher!

🍒 Ingredients:
1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling

1 box yellow cake mix (about 15.25 oz)

½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Optional: chopped nuts or shredded coconut for topping

🥣 Instructions:
Prepare slow cooker: Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with butter or non-stick spray.

Add pie filling: Pour the cherry pie filling into the bottom of the slow cooker and spread it evenly.

Add cake mix: Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the cherry pie filling—do not stir.

Add butter: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible.

Optional topping: Add nuts or coconut if desired.

Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 2½ to 3 hours, or until the top is set and slightly golden.

Serve: Spoon into bowls warm. Delicious plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Note:
This cozy dessert is a longtime church potluck favorite—hence the name “Minister’s Delight”! It’s wonderfully simple, requiring just three main ingredients and minimal prep. The slow cooker does all the work, making it a great option for busy days, holidays, or when you want a warm treat without heating up the kitchen. Feel free to swap the cherry pie filling for apple, peach, or blueberry to mix things up!
