A pinch of Kosher Salt
For the Topping:
⅓ cup Light Brown Sugar
⅓ cup Caramel Toffee Bits
¾ to 1 cup Pecans (chopped to desired size)
1½ cup Boiling Water
Instructions
Preheat the Oven: Set to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat and pour into the baking dish.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flours, sugars, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and salt.
Add Wet Ingredients: Stir in milk, dark rum, and vanilla until smooth.
Layer the Batter: Gently pour the batter over the melted butter without stirring.
Prepare Topping: In another bowl, mix brown sugar, toffee bits, and pecans. Sprinkle over the batter.
Add Boiling Water: Carefully pour boiling water over the mixture without stirring.
Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and bubbling.
Cool & Serve: Let cool for 15-20 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
