Recipe for Savory Sausage and Cheese Croissants
Ingredients:
1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough
1/2 lb (225g) ground sausage (mild or spicy)
1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (plus more for garnish)
1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions:
Prepare the Sausage Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
Mix in the garlic powder, parsley, and Parmesan cheese. Set aside to cool slightly.
Assemble the Croissants:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles.
Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture at the wider end of each triangle.
Sprinkle a small amount of mozzarella cheese over the sausage.
Roll and Seal:
Roll the dough tightly from the wide end to the pointed tip, forming a crescent shape.
Place each croissant on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
Add the Finishing Touch:
Brush the tops of the croissants with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Sprinkle a little more parsley and mozzarella cheese on top for added flavor.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown and puffed.
Serve:
Let the croissants cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Tips:
Customize the filling with other ingredients like cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, or diced bell peppers.
Serve with marinara sauce or a side of scrambled eggs for a complete breakfast.
These cheesy, savory croissants are a “YAY” all the way! 🥐✨
