1/2 cup chicken broth
1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
1 tbsp oil or butter
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Brown the pork chops in a skillet with oil or butter over medium-high heat. Set aside.
Layer the casserole: In a greased baking dish, spread the sliced potatoes, onion, and apple (if using).
Add sauerkraut on top and sprinkle with caraway seeds, black pepper, and brown sugar. Pour in the chicken broth.
Place the pork chops on top of the sauerkraut mixture.
Cover and bake for 1 hour. Remove the cover and bake for another 15 minutes to brown the chops.
Note: For extra flavor, sear the pork chops until golden brown before baking. 🔥 You can also add a chopped apple 🍏 for a hint of sweetness or a sprinkle of caraway seeds for a more traditional taste. 🌿 Adjust seasoning to your preference and enjoy this cozy dish! 😋
